1. Digitizing History: Exploring Moments in Time Through Web Design
grades: 6-8
subject: social studies, computer skills
integration: students use website design software to create a webpage based on a theme of American History. Students use planners and heirarchical structure to understand effective web design. The incorporation of the website design requires students to develop their critical thinking skills in order to organize the relevant information about the theme of history.
2. The Kite Runner Google Lit Trip
grades: 9-12
subject: language, social studies
integration: Google Earth is used to visually map the travels of the characters in the novel. Students are also able to see the geography and distances of locations throughout the story. The technology give students a better visual connection to the literature.
3. World Pizza
grades: 6-8
subject: economics, math
integration: Microsoft Excel is used to track a student created pizza business and its attempts to make pizza to sell around the world. This integration gives students a real life application use of technology in business.
